Whether you have a business that ships thousands of boxes per month or you just bought a new house and will be moving soon, our customer service team thrives on giving advice for each one of our customers specific needs. One area we see a lot of questions and in all honesty see people spending more than they need to is in the area of packing tape. Today, we wanted to run through a few things on packaging tape.
Packing tape, also called packaging, carton sealing, and shipping tape, is designed to have a strong-stick to it in order to hold boxes together during bumpy rides. Without a doubt, when shipping, these rides can be bumpy. It also comes in different thicknesses strong enough to withstand heavier loads.
If you are having issues with the tape tearing often, that is due to the thickness of the tape and maybe the weight of the items you are shipping. To cut down on using multiple layers think about getting a little thicker tape. If you look closely most household tapes come in thicknesses that are, 1.7 or 1.8 mil packing tape .
If you are having trouble with those and using multiple strips for each part of the box, you may actually save money by getting a thicker tape. Using one strip of 1.9 or 2.0 thickness tape may end up saving you a lot of money in the long run!
So next time you are in need for the right tape for your situation, check out all the options in our store and don't hesitate to ask us any questions!
